Before writing screenplays, I really enjoyed being licensed in real estate, meeting MOST of the people I dealt with, but investing/rehabbing is where I really found my call. 

However, I moved from a large metropolis (Houston) and the opportunities here are slim. There are so many people rehabbing now, it's hard to find opportunities for the right price or never recover, thus don't do it at all.

Before the real estate venture, I worked for an aerospace contractor for NASA. This was the most intriguing of opportunities, making things that have never been produced before.

We dealt in life sciences; keeping the astronauts healthy and fit; outfitted them with medical kits [defibrillator was one of mine], exercise machines like the treadmill, rowing machine and the LBNPD to sleep in. 

Lower Body Negative Pressure Device. They slept in a sealed fabric-ring structured vacuum bag to keep the blood circulating to their feet, a problem caused by the lack of gravity like everything else in space. They need to exercise or their muscles atrophy with little to no effort in lifting or doing anything.

My part was mostly sewing; Nomex fabrics and straps to hold everything in place. Heat sealing urethane materials for holding liquids, before and after use; vacuum bags that look like the old Electrolux vac bags, but hand cut.
