Moderate weather presents the opportunity to blow fresh air through your home.

When rehabbing homes, it was necessary to open windows and doors to flush fresh air through. 

However, a good cross-wind can REALLY SLAM doors shut -- HARD!  I used bare cinder blocks or bricks to hold doors wide open.

Once new doors were in place, I used covered bricks that would not damage the doors and floors. 

For years, every door in my home has had a “brick” stored behind ready for the breeze!

I wore out a legal-length file bag a title company gave me years ago.

I made a replacement of heavy denim and added plastic stiffener hand-stitched to the front/back/bottom areas.

It had no liner, so after YEARS OF USE, I added a liner and flat pockets inside, front and back.

I use these new totes for paperwork, books, shopping, sewing projects, etc.

They are constructed of denim or canvas, whatever really durable materials are available at the time.

The stiffener is plastic canvas used in needlepoint projects, a challenge to stitch through, as the machine needle adjusts itself to keep from piercing the plastic web. These are not fake machine “stamped stitches,” but real stitches.

Some totes have two inside flat pockets.

Others have one pocket and a thermos/drink holder strap which is not meant to be snug--just enough to keep a beverage container upright.
